Maria Barraza has been inspired by fabrics since the age of 3, when her mother, a fashion designer, took her into a store to buy fabric for a new coat. In 2003, Ms. Barraza opened an upscale retail boutique in Stonington, CT. She has dressed then-second lady Tipper Gore, CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien, and Elizabeth Vargas of ABC’s 20/20. Ms. Barraza also serves as Director of theBROOKLYNfashionincubator at Berkeley College, a program spearheaded by Macy’s that supports up-and-coming fashion entrepreneurs.
