Regional Administrator, U.S. Small Business Administration

Kellie I. LeDet was appointed Regional Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) in July 2014. She directs SBA operations in Region II, encompassing New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Her appointment represents the first time that a woman and an African-American has held the post. Ms. LeDet has served in the federal and state government and private industry for 20 years, helping governments and businesses grow in the global and domestic marketplace. Before joining the SBA, she served as Deputy Chief of Staff for the office of U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) and Managing Director of Diversity, Small Business and Government Affairs, at the New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation. Ms. LeDet is the recipient of countless awards including the New Jersey Association of Women-Owned Businesses “Woman of the Year” award and the NAACP’s “Outstanding Community Service” award. She attended Norfolk State University in Norfolk, VA, where she majored in Political Science and Mass Communications with a Public Administration concentration. She is actively involved in community and civic organizations, and believes strongly in the mission, “to whom much is given, much is required.”
