The Berkeley College New York Women’s Basketball team is ranked No. 1 among 41 teams nationwide, according to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Coaches Poll. The Lady Knights boast an impressive 9-1 overall record so far this season. On the men’s side, Berkeley College in New York has recorded a 5-2 start, earning the Knights the No. 6 ranking in the poll.

The Lady Knights have five players who average about 10 points per game, a testament to their stellar offense. The team is led by senior forward Milan Germany, who is averaging 17 points and almost 12 rebounds per game. Junior forward Champagne Hazel is second in scoring per game, averaging almost 16 points.

The USCAA Coaches Poll was instituted in 2008 as a way to aid the selection process for USCAA National Championships. The poll harvests the opinions of up to 12 regionally selected coaches and athletic directors who vote based on win/loss record; strength of schedule; USCAA power rankings; head-to-head contests between USCAA opponents; common opponents; and score differentials.

The Lady Knights will return to the court in 2015 when they travel to Riverdale, NY, on January 3 to face off against the Dolphins of the College of Mount Saint Vincent. The Men’s Basketball team will play Endicott College on December 30 in Hartford, CT.
