SEASON OF GIVING: WOODBRIDGE
Berkeley College Supports Youth Leadership
through Diversity Stride Walk-A-Thon
In June 2016, Berkeley College participated in the 16th Annual Diversity Stride Walk-A-Thon at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, NJ. As a Pacesetter Sponsor, the College marked its 10th year joining the 5K Walk to raise funds in support of the American Conference on Diversity’s Youth Leadership Institute programs.
“This 5K Walk brings people and communities from all over New Jersey together to show their commitment to diversity and inclusion,” said Kevin Frey, Berkeley College Director, Office of Student Development and Campus Life, Woodbridge. “It is a truly fun day with family-friendly activities.”
The American Conference on Diversity is dedicated to building just and inclusive schools, workplaces and communities through awareness, education and advocacy. The organization recently honored Berkeley College’s Luing family with its 2016 Legacy Award for its commitment to supporting a welcoming career-focused educational environment for a diverse student population.
In addition, Mr. Frey and Diane Recinos, EdD, Senior Vice President, Enrollment Management, are among the Berkeley College associates who have served on the Board for the American Conference on Diversity, while Mr. Frey also previously served as Chair of the Central Jersey Chapter Board.
“Our work and your support is crucial to make sure that we are reaching as many young people as possible so they don’t become targets of hate or before they’re recruited to participate in hate groups,” said Elizabeth Williams-Riley, CEO and President, American Conference on Diversity, at the awards ceremony earlier this year. “Your support helps us fight bias, bigotry and discrimination.”
