Berkeley College Partners with New Jersey Devils, Prudential Center
to Deliver Blankets to Patients at New Jersey Children’s Hospital

 Berkeley Newark

In September 2016, the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ, received 100 blankets donated by Berkeley College, the New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center. Officials from the three organizations were joined by the mascots, N.J. Devil and Sir Berkeley, as they presented pediatric patients between the ages of three months to 15 years old with blankets co-branded with the Devils and Berkeley College logos. Donated funds for the blankets were collected during the Devils-Bruins game at The Rock on March 29, 2016.

“We have great relationships with the New Jersey Devils organization, Prudential Center, and Berkeley College, and we always welcome the joy their visits bring to our pediatric patients,” said Darrell K. Terry Sr., MHA, MPH, FACHE, President/CEO, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey.

“It was a touching experience to spend time with these young patients,” said Joel Martinez, Campus Operating Officer, Berkeley College Newark. “This visit is a reminder of how important it is for Berkeley College to continue building and cherishing its relationships in the community.”

Commemorating its 85th anniversary in higher education, Berkeley College’s collaboration with the New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center is part of its continued commitment to give back to the local community through Berkeley Cares. This initiative gives students, faculty, staff and alumni opportunities to assist charities in the critical areas of food, shelter, health, and student success.

“We are proud to work with partners like Berkeley College that share our vision for a better New Jersey, and look forward to continuing to support their excellence in higher education and community this year and beyond,” said Hugh Weber, President, New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center.
