Berkeley College in Clifton Welcomes
Literacy Volunteers

In September 2015, a 10-week ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) class wrapped up at Berkeley College in Clifton. The program was run by Berkeley College, Literacy Volunteers of America, Essex and Passaic Counties, and the Sussex Educational Foundation.

Students said they enrolled to obtain better jobs, to continue in school, or to become citizens.

“Doors open for you when you are a citizen,” said Mariella, a student from Ecuador who completed the advanced ESOL course.
