On March 26, 2017, members of the Berkeley College community competed in the 2017 Armory NYC Indoor Marathon Team Relay, held at The Armory Track & Field Center in Manhattan, NY.

The 26.2-mile team relay brought together New York-based businesses and educational institutes over the course of three days to compete in support of The Armory Foundation, which serves youth by promoting fitness and education through a broad range of athletic, educational and community programs.

The College also supported top-ranking high school athletes in January 2017, as a sponsor of the 23rd annual U.S. Army Hispanic Games, which was founded as a way to honor the Hispanic culture of Washington Heights.

The Armory recognized 10 student-athletes with the Peter N. Aquilone Leaders of Tomorrow award for their achievements in athletics, academics and community service. Michael J. Smith, President of Berkeley College, accompanied representatives of the U.S. Army in presenting the awards to the student-athletes.

“Berkeley College is honored to be a part of the U.S. Army Hispanic Games at The Armory, and to support outstanding high school athletes making a difference in their communities,” President Smith said.

Between races, the Berkeley College School of Health Studies provided free biometric screenings to attendees.
