Berkeley National SecurityThis event offers an opportunity for public- and private-sector professionals in emergency management, healthcare, compliance, information technology, communications, corporate security, national security and municipal, county and state government entities to gain insights into how to use social media and leverage social media resources in the monitoring and dissemination of information. Experts will provide real-world case studies from security incidents in the United States and across the globe.

SPEAKERS AND MODERATORS

Speakers include retired and active professionals from the New York City Police Department, New Jersey State Police, National Information Officers Association, and U.S. Secret Service, among other public and private entities. 

Panelists will discuss topics including: 

  • How law enforcement monitors and reacts to social media chatter
  • Social media as a tool for emergency management communications
  • Preventing online exploitation of children in a global security context
  • The reach of terrorism via social media

The National Security Forum on Social Media is held in partnership with the National Coalition of Latino Officers, the Asian American Law Enforcement Association, the Hispanic American Law Enforcement Association, the National Association of Black Women in Law Enforcement (New Jersey and Atlanta, GA), State of New Jersey Office of Emergency Management, New Jersey Women in Law Enforcement, and New Jersey State Police.
