A group of 39 students and faculty from GUFE are at Berkeley College in White Plains, completing a 90-day business and management American cultural immersion program that is part of a collaborative agreement to educate students and train faculty from GUFE.

Officials from Guizhou University in China visited Berkeley College in White Plains, where the students from Guizhou University are participating in the American Acculturation Immersion Program, sponsored by Berkeley College. The American Acculturation Immersion Program is the result of the initial collaboration between Berkeley College and the Guizhou University of Finance and Economics (GUFE). The program includes classes in English Business Communications, visits to American historical and cultural sites, as well as several business and government institutions in Westchester and New York City. Last week the Summer Program students and their Berkeley College student ambassadors visited the Federal Reserve Bank in New York City, The United Nations, and IBM in Yorktown, NY. This week they are in Washington DC.

Chu Guangrong, Chairman of the Board, GUFE, was impressed with Berkeley College and the Summer Program. “It is clear our students are learning and absorbing the local culture,” he said. “This is only the starting point of a deepened collaboration between our university and Berkeley College.”

Michael J. Smith, President of Berkeley College, welcomed the GUFE delegation of educators at the Berkeley College campus in White Plains.

“We are experiencing what higher education can accomplish through collaboration – for our students, for our countries, and for business on a global scale,” said Mr. Smith.

The Summer Program students will conduct their final group presentations on the morning of October 13th, which will be followed by a ceremony at which they receive their certificates of completion.
