MIDDLETOWN STUDENT RECEIVES
BERKELEY
COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP

In honor of the late Carol O’Leary, former teacher and Vice President of the Academic Resource Center at the Westchester Campus, Berkeley College recently presented the Carol O’Leary Scholarship to Jessica Alessandro of Middletown in Orange County, NY. Ms. Alessandro, a senior at Minisink Valley High School in Middletown, plans to attend Berkeley College to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice – Justice Studies. She is the first student to receive the scholarship in honor of Ms. O’Leary, who suffered from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease), and died in November 2006.

“Carole left her footprints at Berkeley, having touched our lives and the lives of hundreds of students through her kindness, dedication, love, and commitment,” says Berkeley College Campus Operating Officer, Westchester Campus, Cynthia Rubino. “While her life was cut short unexpectedly, her spirit lives on through this scholarship.”

The Carol O’Leary Scholarship is part of a continuing commitment at Berkeley College to provide educational awards to deserving students on the basis of merit and need.  Last year, Berkeley College offered more than $17 million in institutional grants and scholarship aid to eligible students.

A leader in business education for 77 years, Berkeley College currently maintains an enrollment of over 6,000 students, with more than 600 international students in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs. The College has two New York campuses in Midtown Manhattan and White Plains, an Extension Center in Lower Manhattan in the Wall Street area, and four New Jersey campuses located in West Paterson, Paramus, Woodbridge, and Newark. In addition, the College offers Berkeley College Online and its Corporate Learning Partnership program. All campuses are accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The College’s website address is www.BerkeleyCollege.edu.
