RECEIVES BERKELEY COLLEGE FACULTY OF THE YEAR AWARD

Matthew LaBrake, Library Director, Berkeley College Online®, received the Faculty of the Year Distinguished Librarian award for his progressive, creative and collaborative contributions to student-centered learning. A resident of Jersey City, NJ, Mr. LaBrake was among 18 Berkeley College faculty members and fellow professionals who were recognized by students and colleagues during a dinner reception held at Battery Gardens on November 3, 2016, in Manhattan, NY.

“These annual awards recognize faculty members who serve as role models in demonstrating commitment to the success of Berkeley College students,” said Beth M. Castiglia, PhD, Provost, Berkeley College. “We know they are successful because of their love of teaching. The feedback from their students and colleagues reflect this.”  

“Librarianship puts me in the perfect position to motivate students to become lifelong learners and develop critical thinking skills, while stimulating inquiry and creativity,” Mr. LaBrake said. “Librarianship provides me an outlet to innovate with technology to enhance teaching and learning, provide engaging co-curricular programming, and develop new support services for our students.”

Other recipients of the Faculty of the Year Distinguished Librarian awards included Amanda Piekart, Information Literacy Instructional Designer, and Matthew Regan, Information Literacy Coordinator.
