BERKELEY COLLEGE FACULTY RECOGNITION DINNER

Berkeley College

Photo Caption (above): Professor Rory Hearn, Berkeley College School of Liberal Arts, receives the Distinguished Adjunct Award during the 2018 Berkeley College Faculty Recognition Awards dinner, held on November 14, 2018, at The Terrace in Paramus, NJ. “My approach to teaching isn’t just about giving my students information or knowledge,” said Mr. Hearn. “I know that college is a place to acquire these attributes, but that’s not enough to succeed in life. I believe in wisdom – and that wisdom is the ability to properly apply knowledge. I want my students to be as wise as they are knowledgeable.  When I present a lesson, I give them the knowledge they need to pass the course, but also try and share experiences to help them apply that knowledge in the real world.” Mr. Hearn is a resident of Manhattan, NY.  Below (L to R) are: Donald Kieffer, PhD, Dean, Berkeley College School of Liberal Arts; Michael J. Smith, President, Berkeley College; Beth Castiglia, PhD, Provost, Berkeley College; Elana Zolfo, EdD, Dean, and Valbona Gjoligaj, PhD, Professor, Management, both of Berkeley College Larry L. Luing School of Business®; Rory Hearn; and Kevin Luing, Berkeley College Board Chairman.
