NJBIZ honored the State of New Jersey’s most accomplished young professionals in business and industry during its 2016 Forty Under 40 awards reception and ceremony on September 26, 2016, at The Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, NJ. Joel Martinez, Berkeley College Campus Operating Officer, Newark, was among the 40 professionals selected by NJBIZ for his commitment to business growth, professional excellence and to the community.
In addition to handling day-to-day operations at the Newark campus and collaborating with other departments at Berkeley College, Mr. Martinez participates in community-based initiatives in the City of Newark. Most recently, he helped officials from Berkeley College and the New Jersey Devils deliver 100 donated blankets to patients from the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. He also has been an advocate of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s arts education programs.
Mr. Martinez has more than 10 years of experience with Berkeley College, and was promoted to Campus Operating Officer at Berkeley College in Newark in 2015. He previously worked as Senior Director of Admissions at Berkeley College, managing Adult Admissions at the Midtown Manhattan campus, and both Adult and High School Admissions at the Brooklyn campus. Mr. Martinez received the 2013 Associate of the Year Award in Leadership, which recognizes individuals who inspire others to achieve the mission of Berkeley College.
A resident of White Plains, NY, Mr. Martinez began his professional career in 2003 at Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers in the Latin America division in New York City as an investment analyst. He earned an MBA in Finance from Pace University, Lubin School of Business, New York, and both his AAS and BS degrees in International Business from Berkeley College.
