Photo Caption: Berkeley College paid tribute to the victims, survivors and first responders of September 11, 2001, with events of remembrance and reflection at each of its campuses in New Jersey and New York. Nine alumni, five students, and the husband of a professor died in the attacks 17 years ago. Students, faculty and staff engaged in various service initiatives during September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, which promotes community service as a way to honor the victims. At Berkeley College in White Plains, NY, students created inspirational cards, blankets for hospital patients, and laundry sachets for women at shelters. Above left: Berkeley College student Diamond Jackson of the Bronx helped Volunteer New York! by preparing packages of a week’s worth of diapers and wipes along with fellow student Mcjerry Mayard of Spring Valley, NY (not pictured). Above right: Britney Trigueros of Yonkers, NY, supports the YWCA of White Plains and Central Westchester to benefit formerly homeless women in need.
