Photo Caption: Berkeley College paid tribute to the victims, survivors and first responders of September 11, 2001, with events of remembrance and reflection at each campus. The College remembered those whose lives were lost and the loved ones left behind, including members of its own community. Nine alumni, five students, and the husband of a professor died in the attacks 17 years ago. Students, faculty and staff engaged in various service initiatives in alignment with September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, which promotes community service as a way to honor the victims. Students in New York made and delivered sandwiches to the homeless in Grand Central Station, Bryant Park and Times Square in Manhattan and at Kensington Family Shelter in Brooklyn. At Berkeley College in White Plains, NY, students created inspirational cards, blankets for hospital patients, and laundry sachets for women at shelters. Students at Berkeley College in Newark, NJ, and Berkeley College Online® created no-sew fleece blankets for the homeless. Students at Berkeley College in Woodbridge, NJ, attended “September 11, 2001: How It Changed American Society,” where they discussed their memories and the effects of the attacks. Volunteers at Berkeley College in Paramus, NJ, visited senior citizens at New Life Adult Day Care, within walking distance of the campus. At Berkeley College in Woodland Park, NJ, students and staff discussed their memories of the day and issues of public safety. Kevin L. Luing, Berkeley College Chairman of the Board, honored the members of the Berkeley College family who were lost.
