Berkeley College recently appointed Eva Skuka, MD, PhD, as Dean, Berkeley College School of Health Studies. In this role, Dr. Skuka will maintain academic standards for a range of instructional degrees and certifications, including Medical Assistant; Surgical Technology; Practical Nurse; Health Sciences; Patient Care Technician; Surgical Processing Technician; and Medical Insurance, Billing, and Coding programs. Dr. Skuka is a resident of Wayne, NJ.

“Dr. Skuka has more than 10 years of teaching experience in higher education, as well as a strong background in information technology and distance learning,” said Beth M. Castiglia, PhD, Berkeley College Provost. “As Dean, she will provide academic and administrative leadership for the School of Health Studies, furthering curriculum development that engages Berkeley College students in their paths toward success.”

Dr. Skuka has taught Medical Assistant courses at Berkeley College since 2011. She currently serves as an evaluator at the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools in Washington, D.C. She was also an instructor at Bergen Community College, Hudson County Community College and Kaplan University.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Skuka has held administrational positions such as Dean of Allied Health at the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences in New York, where she developed and founded the Allied Health Programs. She served as Chair of Medical Programs at Dover Business College, where she established the Medical Assistant and Medical Billing and Coding Administration programs. Her professional clinical experience includes as an assistant physician at Pediatric Professional Associates in Wayne, NJ, and as a physician at the Albanian Military Hospital in Tirana, Albania.

Dr. Skuka holds an MD from the University of Tirana School of Medicine in Tirana, Albania. She also holds a PhD from Capella University in Minneapolis, MN, as well as several medical licensures and certifications.
