Fashion designer and entrepreneur Christian Siriano shared advice and stories of his experience in the industry to an audience of Berkeley College students, faculty and prospective high school students at a special event presented by Berkeley College at Club 101 in New York, NY on July 27, 2016.

“If you don’t play with things you’re curious about, you won’t see the bigger picture,” said Mr. Siriano, who started his journey into fashion without knowing much about the industry. He first explored his passion for style at American InterContinental University in London, England.

During the Q&A portion of the event, Mr. Siriano also discussed how his clothing is intended to make everyone look and feel stylish, the challenges he’s experienced in running his own business, and what it’s like to partner with retail chains like Lane Bryant. He also touched upon how he recently came to design comedian Leslie Jones’ dress for the Ghostbusters film premiere, as well as the dress First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama, wore during this week’s Democratic National Convention.
