Carlos Cruz, Chair, Graphic Design, Berkeley College School of Professional Studies, received the Faculty of the Year award for Outstanding Teaching during a dinner reception held at Battery Gardens on November 3, 2016, in Manhattan, NY. A resident of Greenwood Lake, NY, Mr. Cruz was among 18 Berkeley College faculty members and fellow professionals who were recognized by students and colleagues for their contributions to student-centered learning in exceptional ways.
“These annual awards recognize faculty members who serve as role models in demonstrating commitment to the success of Berkeley College students,” said Beth M. Castiglia, PhD, Provost, Berkeley College. “We know they are successful because of their love of teaching. The feedback from their students and colleagues reflect this.”
Graduation is one of Mr. Cruz’s most memorable experiences at Berkeley College. “To watch the students receive their diplomas is to cross the finish line with them,” he said. “It is sincerely moving to hear ‘thank you’ for helping our students land jobs and begin a vital occupation in the graphic design industry.”
