BETH M. CASTIGLIA, PhD, NAMED
PROVOST AT BERKELEY COLLEGE

Beth M. Castiglia, PhD, former Dean of the Berkeley College L. Luing School of Business, has been named Provost at Berkeley College, effective December 14, 2015. Under the direction of the President, the Provost serves as the chief academic officer of the College.

“Beth has been instrumental in aligning curricular changes at the Larry L. Luing School of Business with International Assembly of Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) principles, and shares a vision that is on the same trajectory as our current administration,” said Michael J. Smith, President of Berkeley College. “I am confident in Beth’s leadership and in her commitment to working with faculty, administrators and students to drive our mission at Berkeley College forward.”

Dr. Castiglia implemented the process of using assessments for student learning and operational outcomes in the Berkeley College Larry L. Luing School of Business.  She emphasized the experiential components in business classes, integrating soft skills into the traditional college curriculum. Dr. Castiglia also supported faculty initiatives to redesign curricula and student resources. She is a proponent of public and private-sector partnerships.

“I am excited to work with the faculty and the students, especially in integrating the students’ academic experience with the soft skills that go hand in hand with professional success in the workplace.  This combination increases their competitive edge in their careers and in their ability to pursue postgraduate degrees.” said Dr. Castiglia.

Prior to her arrival at Berkeley College, Dr. Castiglia served as Dean and Professor, at the Felician University School of Business in Lodi, NJ. Her prior teaching experience also includes faculty assignments at Ramapo College and Fairleigh Dickinson University. She also served as a Research Assistant in Economics at Goldman Sachs and Co.

Green Excellence in Business Education Award from the International Assembly of Collegiate Business Education (IACBE). She has delivered papers, presentations and workshops at numerous college and business education proceedings and conferences.

Dr. Castiglia’s service to the profession includes leading organizations through efforts that range from strategic planning to outcomes assessment and journal review work.

She holds a PhD in Applied Management and Decision Sciences from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN, an MS in Economics from Pace University in Manhattan, NY, and a BS in Economics from Saint Peter’s College in Jersey City, NJ.
