Berkeley College Women’s Basketball player Ayana Ratliff of Brooklyn, NY, earned the league’s top recognition when the Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) voted her as the 2017-2018 Player of the Year on February 18, 2018.


“Ayana isn’t just a tremendous offensive player, she is also an incredible defensive presence as well,” said Alex Kuchar, Head Coach, Berkeley College Women’s Basketball team. “Her versatility was invaluable for us during the 2017-2018 season. She exemplified heart, grit and passion on the court, and the energy she brought with her to the court every game was unwavering.”


A four-time HVIAC Player of the Week, Ms. Ratliff scored double figures in all 21 of the Knights’ games this season. She led the conference in scoring, netting 27.4 points each game, and posting three games of 30 points or more against league opponents. Ms. Ratliff was second in the HVIAC in total steals with 83. On the national front, in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association, Ms. Ratliff led in scoring and placed fifth on the total steals list. The Knights finalized their 2017-2018 campaign with a record of 9-12.


Ms. Ratliff is earning her AAS in Business Administration – Management at Berkeley College. She is a graduate of Bishop Laughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn, NY.
