BERKELEY COLLEGE WELCOMES SHAWN WILLIAMS
AS NEW JERSEY CROSS COUNTRY COACH
Berkeley College is proud to announce that Shawn Williams, DC, has been named Cross Country coach for both the men’s and women’s teams in New Jersey.
“As the first Cross Country coach for Berkeley College, Dr. Williams will be vital in helping to develop the intercollegiate program at our New Jersey campuses,” said Berkeley College Athletic Director Brian D. Maher. “He has the athletic experience and background necessary to lead this program and an extensive educational and medical background that will serve our student-athletes well.”
Dr. Williams is an adjunct professor at Berkeley College, teaching Anatomy and Physiology, and Health and Fitness courses. He is a doctoral candidate at Seton Hall University; is a graduate of New York Chiropractic College; and holds a BS degree in Biology and Psychology from the City University of New York, Staten Island.
As a high school athlete, Dr. Williams competed at a national level, going on to earn multiple NCAA Division III All-American awards in Cross Country. Following his collegiate career, he trained with clubs such as Adidas of New Jersey and the Westchester Puma Track Club.
Dr. Williams’ coaching career began in 1999. His team from Monsignor High School in Staten Island placed third in the prestigious Championship of America event at Penn Relays and in the 2000-01 season he led the school to the Staten Island Triple Crown Championships in Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track.
Dr. Williams is a sports medicine advisor to the New York Road Runners Club. He earned subspecialty certifications in clinical biomechanics of posture, pediatric chiropractic, and sound-assisted soft tissue mobilization, as well as the USA Track and Field Level Two coaching certification.
