BERKELEY COLLEGE WELCOMES FACULTY MEMBERS
FROM CHINA TO WOODLAND PARK

In September, the Berkeley College School of Health Studies welcomed a delegation of faculty from North Sichuan Medical University in China for a five-day visit. The group sought to better understand medical terminology and the U.S. medical system before continuing to travel in the United States. It was the faculty members’ first visit to the United States and their first visit to an American college.

The delegation was greeted by Sheila Dynan, DMH, Dean, Berkeley College School of Health Studies, in the Community Room at Berkeley College in Woodland Park. The participants then spent time with a number of Berkeley College professors. The program was organized in conjunction with the US-China Century Education Group Corp (USCCE), a social enterprise based in Totowa, NJ, that facilitates educational exchange between the United States and China.

Zou Xingli, a member of the Chinese delegation, said the visit helped him learn medical terms that are difficult to memorize.

“The course taught us excellent methods to read, write, understand and memorize these medical words,” he said. “Your teachers also showed us how (medical) classes in America are organized, which is significant for future teaching in our country.”
