BERKELEY COLLEGE VICE PRESIDENT APPOINTED AS
SPOKESMAN FOR FINANCIAL AID AWARENESS
Berkeley College is pleased to announce that Vice President of Financial Aid, Howard Leslie, has been appointed to serve as a spokesman and presenter for the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) during Student Financial Aid Awareness Month. The campaign was established by New York Governor David A. Paterson to encourage students and families to explore the college financial aid opportunities available to them. Student Financial Aid Awareness Month runs through February 25.
Mr. Leslie has worked as a Financial Aid Administrator for 33 years, providing support, training and consultation nationwide. He joined Berkeley College in October 2009 and is responsible for the management of its Financial Aid offices.
“Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a vital first step toward securing financial assistance for a college education,” said Mr. Leslie. “The events and workshops offered by HESC can help students and their families navigate the FAFSA process to ensure they receive the financial aid to which they are entitled.”
Mr. Leslie will conduct HESC FAFSA workshops on the following dates:
- February 10, 5:00 to 7:00 pm – Dodge YMCA, 225 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn
- February 11, 6:00 to 8:00 pm – New Visions for Public Schools, Evander High School Campus, 800 East Gun Hill Road, Bronx
- February 24, 6:00 to 8:00 pm – New Visions for Public Schools, Jefferson Campus, 400 Pennsylvania Avenue, Brooklyn
For more information on workshops, visit www.StartHereGetThere.org. A HESC FAFSA hotline will be available on February 3, 10, 17 and 24 from noon to 6:00 pm by calling 1-800-808-1790.
