BERKELEY COLLEGE TO HOLD COMMENCEMENT AT
PRUDENTIAL CENTER IN NEWARK 

Christopher Rodriguez, PhD, New Jersey Homeland Security Director, to address graduates

 

Due to the recent closing of the IZOD Center, Berkeley College will now hold its Commencement Ceremony at 9:00 am on Friday, April 24, 2015, at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. Christopher Rodriguez, PhD, New Jersey Director of the Office of Homeland Security, will deliver the Commencement Address. More than 2,300 graduates will receive Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees and certificates from Berkeley College. 

“Berkeley College is excited to celebrate its graduating class at our new venue, the Prudential Center in Newark,” said Dario A. Cortes, PhD, President of Berkeley College. “I know our students, many of whom are completing degrees in Justice Studies, will be inspired by Dr. Rodriguez and his story of success.” 

Dr. Rodriguez will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Berkeley College. 

Before joining the Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness (OHSP), Dr. Rodriguez served more than a decade as an analyst and manager in the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the U.S. Department of State. In 2011 and 2012, he served as a policy advisor on the staff of Governor Chris Christie, overseeing OHSP, the Department of Law and Public Safety, the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, and the Department of Transportation. 

Dr. Rodriguez has been recognized with awards from the CIA and the Director of National Intelligence for his leadership and professional achievements, both in the United States and abroad. He was born and raised in Morris County, NJ. 

The College also will hold a Virtual Commencement to honor students who earned degrees through Berkeley College Online®. In 2014 and 2015, Berkeley College was ranked among the Best Colleges in the Online Bachelor’s Degree category by U.S. News & World Report
