BERKELEY COLLEGE TEAM SUPPORTS GO THE DISTANCE FOR AUTISM BIKE EVENT

Photo Caption A: Berkeley College was proud to support the Go the Distance for Autism Bike Event on Sunday, May 31 in Paramus, NJ, joining the effort to help build a brighter future for children and adults with autism. Berkeley College team member, Cecily MacConchie of Little Falls, was triumphant as she went the distance, finishing the race with a blown-out tire.

According to their website, over the past five years, the Go the Distance for Autism Ride has raised nearly $4,000,000 from thousands of participants and donors. Autism is a neurobiological-based developmental disability that emerges during a child’s first three years of life. Currently, 1 in 68 children are diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder in the United States. In New Jersey, that number is 1 in 45. Autism is more prevalent than childhood cancer, juvenile diabetes and pediatric AIDS combined.
