BERKELEY COLLEGE SUPPORTS STATEWIDE HISPANIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HEALTH AND WELLNESS FAIR IN NEWARK FRIDAY, MAY 15

 

The Second Annual Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Health and Wellness Fair, to be held tomorrow, Friday, May 15, at the Robert Treat Hotel, 50 Park Place in Newark, NJ, will be an opportunity to learn about health and wellness as well as careers in healthcare fields.

The Hon. Ras J. Baraka, Mayor of Newark, NJ, and other elected officials will welcome guests between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m.  Berkeley College faculty and students will conduct health screenings, and more than 100 exhibitors – including large corporations, small businesses and individual health professionals – will share their knowledge about best practices and products. Panels of experts will discuss several pressing health and wellness topics for this population.    

Alejandro Henao, MD, Medical Assistant program, Berkeley College School of Health Studies, will be a panelist discussing “The Importance of Preventive Medicine,” at 11:15 a.m., and Jose A. Montalvo, RMA, CCMA, Interim Chair, Health Sciences, Berkeley College School of Health Studies, will be a panelist discussing “Good Health Starts with Breastfeeding” at 12:30 p.m.

Health screenings conducted by Berkeley College School of Health Studies students and faculty and information about healthcare career opportunities will be available throughout the day.
