BERKELEY COLLEGE STUDENTS PREPARE TO SERVE THEIR COMMUNITIES
THROUGH CAREERS IN LAW ENFORCEMENT

Photo Caption: Three Berkeley College Criminal Justice students graduated from the annual Law Enforcement Career Development Workshop in early December. The workshop, which is sponsored by the N.J. Police Community Affairs Officers Association, the Morris County Sheriff’s Office, and the Morris County Department of Law and Public Safety, teaches participants to identify and strategize how to secure a position in law enforcement. According to Undersheriff William Schievella, Program Director, “This program is tremendously beneficial because these students wouldn’t learn this in a purely academic setting. We focus on how to get the job—students here have the advantage of networking opportunities, attending mini job fairs, mock crime scenes, canine demonstrations, jail tours, and more, offering participants experiences that go beyond the college experience.” The students participated in a 10-week series, held Monday nights at the Morris County Public Safety Training Academy located in Parsippany, NJ.  Pictured (L-R) Maria Ortega-Cubas, Career Services Counselor, Berkeley College; student Kristen Gething of Westfield; student Brandon Hernandez of Clifton; student Christine Torres of North Beren; and Tiffany Zappulla, Career Counselor, Berkeley College Online®.
