BERKELEY COLLEGE STUDENT FROM NEWARK GIVES PRESENTATION
ABOUT SUSTAINABLE NEIGHBORHOODS AT RUTGERS BUSINESS SCHOOL

Photo Caption: Berkeley College student Nicole Singletary recently gave a presentation at the Rutgers Business School in Newark about sustainable neighborhoods and the work she spearheads in the Essex County community. During her presentation, Ms. Singletary spoke about combatting violence with grassroots activism, increasing community programs in Newark schools and supporting an urban farming initiative. Ms. Singletary is Founder and Executive Director of ITV It Takes a Village, Inc., a community-based nonprofit that seeks to reintegrate non-violent offenders positively into society. Ms. Singletary, a resident of Newark, is pursuing a BS in Management – Entrepreneurship at Berkeley College. She is a member of the Sigma Beta Delta and Alpha Sigma Lambda honor societies, is active in the Student Government Association, and has been named to the Berkeley College President’s List, which recognizes students who achieve a grade point average of 4.00. The presentation was sponsored by TEDxBroadStreet, an independently organized TED event advocating the power of ideas.
