Photo Caption: The New York City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce recently awarded Berkeley College student Erick Feliz (right), of Brooklyn, NY, a Fashion Merchandising and Management major, a $2,000 scholarship. Jay Hershenson, Vice President, Communications and Marketing, and Senior Advisor to the President, Queens College, City University of New York, as well as a member of the Board of Directors, Hispanic Federation (left), presented the award. According to Professor Michael Cain, Developmental Education and English Departments, Berkeley College School of Liberal Arts, Mr. Feliz is an ideal choice as 2018 scholarship winner. “Erick definitely plays a role in helping the Hispanic community,” said Mr. Cain. “He is also professional, has a bright future and is the type of student an instructor hopes to have. He is an asset to any academic or work environment.” This award is designed to give a scholarship on a competitive and need basis to a student with a 3.0 or higher grade point average. The student also must submit an essay that includes accomplishments, how the scholarship would help the student excel, career goals, and an interest in playing a supportive role in Hispanic business and the Hispanic community. The ceremony took place on November 30, 2018, at Maestro’s Caterers, Bronx, NY.
