BERKELEY COLLEGE SENDS MORE THAN
2,000 HOLIDAY WISHES TO US TROOPS OVERSEAS

Berkeley College will send some extra cheer to servicemen and women in the US Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force this holiday season. The College has collected nearly 2,400 cards from its faculty, staff and students for troops serving overseas.

Cards designed by local elementary schools and members of VIA Agency, the internal creative unit of Berkeley College, will be shipped in mid-December to troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“We wanted to do something to let our service members overseas know we appreciate their sacrifice,” said members of the Bergen Campus Admissions team who spearheaded the effort. “We weren’t sure if our goal of 1,000 cards was realistic, but we were blown away by the support from Berkeley College and area elementary schools. People really came through for our troops.”

Some of the school groups contributing cards included Stony Point Elementary School in Rockland County, NY, which contributed 300 cards; Essex Valley School in West Caldwell, NJ, which contributed 200 cards; and Gloversville Enlarged School District in Fulton County, NY, which contributed 150 cards.

“The holidays can be a difficult time for troops stationed away from the comforts of home and family,” said Assistant Vice President of the Office of Military and Veterans Affairs Richard E. Robitaille, EdD. “Berkeley College hopes these cards bring a little holiday cheer to those who do so much to keep our country safe.”

A leader in business education for 79 years, Berkeley College maintains an enrollment of more than 8,000 students, including 665 international students in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs. The College has two New York campuses in Midtown Manhattan and White Plains, an Extension Center in Lower Manhattan in the Wall Street area, and four New Jersey campuses located in Woodland Park (formerly West Paterson), Paramus, Woodbridge, and Newark. In addition, the College offers Berkeley College Online and Corporate Learning Partnerships. Concentrations are offered in more than 20 career fields, and all campuses are accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
