The Berkeley College School of Professional Studies and the Newark Police Department are pleased to present In that Moment, a one-act play and group discussion, at the Newark Public Library, Five Washington Street, Fourth Floor Auditorium, Newark, NJ. The play runs from 3:15 to 5:00 pm.
In That Moment concerns the struggles of a young African-American police officer to “do the right thing.” But, in doing so, a black man is dead and the police officer is being held responsible. The story is filled with dramatic tension and gives a human face to the complex issues of minorities in policing.
The play was created by the collaboration of Ross London, a Berkeley College criminal justice professor, and Jonathan Butler—the star of the show—who currently serves as a police officer with the Hoboken, NJ, Police Department.
Following the performance, a panel of police officers, faculty, and community leaders will discuss the issues raised during the play. The audience is special too; it comprises Berkeley College students, representatives of the Newark Police Department, and members of the community.
