Berkeley College recently was named one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey for 2013. This is the eighth year the College has received the award.

“Berkeley College is honored to be recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey,” said Dario A. Cortes, PhD, Berkeley College President. “This award acknowledges that the College has changed the lives of not only our students, but also the lives of the faculty and staff who find fulfillment in their work.”

The awards program, created in 2005, was designed to identify and honor the places of employment in New Jersey that benefit the state’s economy, workforce and businesses. The program was produced by NJBIZ in partnership with Garden State Council SHRM, The New Jersey State Chamber, Employers Association of New Jersey and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. The presenting sponsor was Metlife Solutions Group and the major event sponsor was Gibbons, P.C.

The Best Places to Work in New Jersey program recognizes 100 companies in two groups, depending on number of employees.

“The benefits offered by Berkeley College to our more than 800 associates help us to attract and keep the best faculty and staff,” said Karen Carpentieri, Berkeley College Vice President of Human Resources. “In addition to offering flexible scheduling that helps balance work and home life, additional benefits include waiving tuition at Berkeley College for associates and their dependents; an associate referral incentive program; a Healthy Living Wellness Program; a flexible spending account for out-of-pocket expenses; pet insurance; and a paid time-off policy to help balance work and family life. Many associates also enjoy Community Service Day, which benefits numerous individuals and families served by non-profit charitable organizations throughout New Jersey.”

A leader in business education for more than 80 years, Berkeley College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and enrolls more than 7,700 students — including over 800 international students — in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs. The College has four New Jersey locations — Woodland Park, Paramus, Woodbridge and Newark. In New York there are three locations — Midtown Manhattan, Brooklyn and White Plains. Berkeley College Online also offers full degree programs. Programs are offered in more than 20 career fields. The website address is
