Photo Caption: Jonathan Weidenbaum, PhD, Humanities and Social Sciences, Berkeley College School of Liberal Arts, displays his photography of South Asia. While on sabbatical in summer 2016 and early 2017, Dr. Weidenbaum explored three culturally rich areas of South Asia – the Punjab region of northwest India, the foothills of the Himalayas in northern India, and the island country of Sri Lanka. As a professor of philosophy and religion, Dr. Weidenbaum sought to share the spiritual legacies of these regions, and photographed the people, customs and temples of the Sikh, Hindu and Theravada Buddhist religions, among others. He has discussed his travels in the classroom at Berkeley College, through courses including “World Religions” and “Introduction to Philosophy.” The photographer is a resident of Ridgewood, Queens, NY.

“In this exhibit, I have sought to balance the aesthetic with the educational,” Dr. Weidenbaum said. “It is my hope that students and visitors enjoy studying these photos every bit as much as I relished the opportunity to take them.”

Visit the Display: The exhibit is on display at Berkeley College, Second Floor, 3 East 43rd Street, New York, NY, during regular business hours.
