BERKELEY COLLEGE PROFESSOR DISCUSSES
IMPACT OF POKÉMON GO

Darshan Desai, PhD, Professor, Management, Berkeley College Larry L. Luing School of Business®, is a Subject Matter Expert in Customer Engagement and Analytics, with extensive knowledge in gamification and the gaming industry. She was recently interviewed by The Record newspaper about how retail businesses and educational institutions can benefit from the craze surrounding the augmented reality game, Pokémon GO.

“There is enormous potential for small businesses to leverage this whole trend of merging the digital world with the physical world,” Dr. Desai said in the article. “Young people may get bored with this, and something new will come, but the kind of augmented reality games, where they are merging the digital world with the physical world, is going to stay, and the expectations of engagement are increasing.”

Dr. Desai presented on the importance of gaming on Brooklyn’s innovation economy during a panel at last year’s Brooklyn Tech Triangle U Week, a week-long series of events presented by an initiative comprised of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation, and DUMBO Improvement District.
