BERKELEY COLLEGE PRESENTS THE PHOTOGRAPHY

OF MATT LICARI – URBAN, SUBURBAN, AND RURAL

Berkeley College is exhibiting the photography of Matt Licari at its New York City Midtown Gallery, First Floor Lobby, 3 East 43rd Street.  This exhibit will be on display from November 1 through 30--Monday through Friday--from 9:00 am to 7:30 pm and on Saturday from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.  An artist’s reception will be held on Thursday, November 3, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.

Mr. Licari is a New Yorker who was born in Manhattan and lived for some time in the Bronx.  Currently, he lives both in New York and Richmond, VA.  Always interested in taking photographs, Mr. Licari received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in photography from the State University of New York, School of Art and Design, in Purchase.

In describing his work, Mr. Licari says, “I explore urban, suburban, and rural subjects with an approach similar to that of a street photographer.  Though I sometimes employ handheld cameras, I like to work primarily with a large format view camera.”

He interned as an archivist for the Guggenheim Museum and the Richard Avedon Foundation, worked with numerous artists and photographers, and was a guest lecturer at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts.

Mr. Licari has exhibited in many venues, including the Sasha Wolf Gallery, Kris Graves Projects, and the Neuberger Museum of Art.  His work has been shown in the company of numerous artists, including Fred Stein, Mathew Pillsbury, and Lois Conner, and he participated in the 2011 Artist Project New York.  His work is also featured and available through Gallery Stock New York/London.

Mr. Licari is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers.
