Berkeley College is exhibiting the artwork of Martha Ferguson at its New York City Midtown Gallery, First Floor Lobby, 3 East 43rd Street. This exhibit is on display from December 3 through 28 – Monday through Friday – from 9:00 am to 7:30 pm and on Saturdays from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm. An artist’s reception will be held on Thursday, December 6, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.
Ms. Ferguson received an MFA from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA; an MS in Education from the City University of New York, College of Staten Island, NY; and a BFA from Hartford Art School, University of Hartford, CT. She has studied painting at Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy, and printmaking in Corsica, France.
“The clear, bright, light and crisp colors of a summer day inspired this series of paintings,” Ms. Ferguson said of the Berkeley College exhibit. “I think of them as self-portrait landscapes; trees, gardens, meadows and skies become extensions of my internal self. I am struck by the temporal quality of the natural world; it seems always to be in a state of transition.”
Ms. Ferguson has held a solo exhibition at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. Her group exhibitions include the New Jersey Arts Incubator Gallery in West Orange, NJ; Prelude Gallery in Philadelphia, PA; Slipe Gallery at the University of Hartford, CT; and B2 Café in Philadelphia, PA.
