BERKELEY COLLEGE PRESENTS THE ARTWORK OF DAWN HENNING,

SHOWCASING HER RELATIONSHIP WITH NATURE

Berkeley College is presenting the artwork of Dawn Henning at its Midtown Manhattan Gallery, 3 East 43rd Street, New York, NY.  The exhibit is on display from October 1 through 31—Monday through Friday—from 9:00 am to 7:30 pm and on Saturdays from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.   An artist’s reception will be held on Thursday, October 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Ms. Henning currently lives and paints in Brooklyn, NY.  She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the School of Visual Arts, New York, NY, in 1991.

In describing her art, she said, “My love of birds and their gift of flight is a recurring theme in much of my work, often used as a metaphor for life.”  She added, “The subtlety of patterns in natural forms and the colors as they appear in the natural world interest me. I have always been interested in our relationship with nature.”

Ms. Henning has been honing her skills for a number of years.  She studied Woodblock printing techniques with Mohammed Khalil at the Parsons School of Design, New York, NY, and Lithography with Judith Solodkin at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY.  She joined  screen print workshops at the New York IT, Old Westbury, NY, making silkscreen and stencil editions with artists Elizabeth Osborne and Jack Youngerman.  She also worked at Kathy Carrachio’s studio, making etchings for artist Hugh Kepets.

Ms. Henning has held solo shows at Berkeley College, Midtown Manhattan, in 2005 and at the Visual Arts Gallery, New York, NY.  Her group shows include Berkeley College, Midtown Manhattan, in 2006, as well as the Drawing Center, New York, NY; The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D. C.; the Santa Monica Museum of Art, CA; and the American Center, Paris, France.
