Berkeley College is exhibiting the paintings of O’Delle Abney at its New York City Midtown Gallery, First Floor Lobby, 3 East 43rd Street. This exhibit will be on display from January 2 through 28, 2012--Monday through Friday--from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. An artist’s reception will be held on Thursday, January 5, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.
Mr. Abney is a New York City resident who graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, with a Master of Fine Arts degree. In his junior year, he studied art at the Tyler School in Rome, Italy, and later received a certificate from the Ivy School of Professional Art in Pittsburgh, PA.
In describing his work, Mr. Abney says, “By letting paint do what paint does, I am able to experience a natural flow in nature. Whether seen from a microscopic, aerial, or global view, it is consistent.”
His solo exhibitions include King Pitcher Gallery, Pittsburgh Playhouse Gallery, and Point Park College Gallery, all in Pittsburgh, PA, plus Café Americano, New York, NY. He has also exhibited at the Port Authority, New York, NY; Jain Gallery, New York, NY; Westmoreland County Museum, Greensburg, PA; Contemporary Painters Show, Schneider Gallery, Rome, Italy; and the Third Annual Black Artists Exhibit, Selma Burke Art Center, Pittsburgh, PA. He was a finalist in the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series at Rush Arts, New York, NY.
