Berkeley College Presents Honorary Degree to Board of Trustees Vice Chair Maria Pace

Berkeley College presented Maria Pace, Board of Trustees Vice Chair, with an honorary Doctor of Pedagogy degree during the Commencement Ceremony of Berkeley College on Friday, April 24, 2009, at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, NJ.
More than 1,200 students from Berkeley College New Jersey, New York, and Online received Baccalaureate or Associate degrees.
“It is my pleasure to bestow this honor on Ms. Pace as her career at Berkeley is so exemplary,” said Berkeley College President Dario A. Cortes, PhD. “Maria has inspired generations of students, faculty and staff, and continues to do so as a trustee.”
Berkeley College bestows honorary degrees upon distinguished individuals whose lives and acts reflect the high personal and professional standards and commitment to students that are at the heart of the mission of Berkeley College.
Ms. Pace joined the College as an Admissions Representative for the New York City and Westchester Campuses, and went on to become the Director of the Long Island school. During her long and distinguished career with the College, Ms. Pace served as Vice President of Admissions, Senior Vice President, and Executive Vice President.
Ms. Pace has guided Berkeley College through significant periods of development that included the establishment of new campuses, the introduction of new degree levels and sustained growth in enrollment. Throughout her tenure she has demonstrated a leadership style characterized by a keen awareness and sensitivity to the needs and aspirations of others. She has inspired in generations of the Berkeley College workforce an exceptional commitment to the College and to the ideals and values that the organization holds dear.
Ms. Pace has served on the Berkeley College Board of Trustees since 1990 and now serves as its Vice Chair.
A leader in business education for 78 years, Berkeley College maintains an enrollment of over 7,200 students, with more than 700 international students in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs.
