Assemblyman Thomas P. Giblin, Passaic County Freeholder Bruce James, and Clifton Councilman Peter Eagler were among the dignitaries joining Berkeley College President Dario A. Cortes, PhD, for yesterday’s Grand Opening of the new Berkeley College Online headquarters at 600 Getty Avenue in Clifton, NJ.  The 10,000 square-foot space accommodates 29 staff members who use “smart” technology such as large high-definition monitors and wireless laptop computers with “soft” telephones and web cameras. These technological advances allow associates to engage with students in audio and video chats.

“Berkeley College is experiencing tremendous growth using online technology for learning and teaching,” said Dr. Cortes. “Our busy online students have access to the rich curriculum, experienced faculty, and broad range of student support services that are offered to every Berkeley College student.”
At the ceremony, Berkeley College Online received a Joint Legislative Resolution from the New Jersey Senate and General Assembly, as well as congratulatory letters from local legislators, the United States Distance Learning Association and the Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

“This is surely a great step forward in helping people of all ages and with varying interests to further their education and better ensure their future intellectual health and economic prosperity,” said Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr.

Since 2003, when Berkeley College first began offering fully accredited online degrees, the number of students enrolled in the full degree online program has steadily increased from 49 students to 822 students this year.  More than 2,000 students have registered to take at least one online class this fall.

Berkeley College Online offers degrees in the following areas: Accounting; Business Administration; Fashion Marketing and Management; Financial Services; General Business; Health Services Management; Health Services Administration; Health Services Administration – Medical Insurance, Billing and Coding; Information Systems Management; International Business; Justice Studies – Criminal Justice; Management; Management – Entrepreneurship; Management – Environmental; Management – Human Resources; Management – Nonprofit; and Marketing.

A leader in business education for 79 years, Berkeley College maintains an enrollment of more than 8,000 students, including 655 international students in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs.
