BERKELEY COLLEGE NAMED AS PLATINUM AWARD WINNER

FOR NEW JERSEY SMART WORKPLACES

Berkeley College is pleased to announce that it was recently named a 2010 Platinum Award winner for New Jersey Smart Workplaces (NJSW).  The College was recognized for its strides toward alleviating traffic congestion and improving air quality in the State.

“We are honored to receive this award as it recognizes our efforts on behalf of our Berkeley College family.  We do our best to provide our students and associates with commuting options such as carpooling, van shuttle services, and traffic alerts,” said Berkeley College Chairman of the Board Kevin Luing.

NJSW recognizes and honors organizations and individuals who provide commuter benefits to employees.  It strives to demonstrate that alternatives to drive-alone commuting, such as transit, carpools, and telecommuting, are economically beneficial to workers, employers, and the environment.  The program is a voluntary partnership of participating employers, New Jersey Transit, the New Jersey Transportation Management Associations, and the New York Department of Transportation.

Berkeley College was recognized and honored this year, along with the 450 New Jersey employers who earned an award, at the 2010 NJSW employer recognition event on Thursday, May 6, 2010, in Trenton, NJ.  In addition to the platinum awards, recognition was given in the gold, silver, and bronze categories.

A leader in business education for 79 years, Berkeley College maintains an enrollment of more than 8,000 students, including 665 international students in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs. The College has four New Jersey campuses located in Woodland Park (formerly West Paterson), Paramus, Woodbridge, and Newark; two New York campuses in Midtown Manhattan and White Plains, an Extension Center in Lower Manhattan in the Wall Street area, and Berkeley College Online.  Concentrations are offered in more than 20 career fields, and all campuses are accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. The College’s website address is www.BerkeleyCollege.edu.
