Berkeley College Launches New Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Marketing and Management with a Minor in International Business

BERKELEY COLLEGE LAUNCHES NEW
BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN FASHION MARKETING AND MANAGEMENT
WITH A MINOR IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS  

Berkeley College is pleased to announce a new Fashion Marketing and Management bachelor’s degree program with a minor in International Business. The new program is currently accepting enrollment in Midtown Manhattan, NY; Paramus, Woodbridge and Woodland Park, NJ; and through Berkeley College Online.

“This is the first of several formal minor programs that Berkeley College plans to launch in an effort to broaden job prospects for our graduates,” said Marianne Vakalis, EdD, Berkeley College Interim Provost.

The new degree program with the International Business minor, encompasses the same number of credits as the popular Fashion Marketing and Management program which is still offered at Berkeley College. However, the new program combines fashion with international business courses. Fashion students enrolled in the program are required to take a total of 20 credits towards the minor, including three international business courses and two foreign language courses. 

“Berkeley College understands that fashion is a global industry so it is a logical extension to introduce this minor into the Fashion Marketing and Management program,” said Guy Adamo, PhD, Berkeley College Chair, Fashion, Larry L. Luing School of Business. “This new program will give fashion students a deeper perspective into the global marketplace and additional merchandising career opportunities.”

Mariela Torres, Berkeley College Senior Director, Career Services, said that students who combine Fashion Marketing and Management with International Business have a competitive advantage in the workplace. “A lot of the major designers are overseas. Students going into areas such as wholesale merchandizing or product development will be heavily involved in developing product lines and finding vendors outside the United States,” Ms. Torres said

A leader in business education for more than 80 years, Berkeley College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and enrolls more than 7,700 students — including over 800 international students — in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs. The College has three New York locations — Midtown Manhattan, Brooklyn and White Plains. In New Jersey there are four locations — Woodland Park, Paramus, Woodbridge and Newark.
