Berkeley College Inducts Union County Students into National Honor Societies

BERKELEY COLLEGE INDUCTS UNION COUNTY STUDENTS
INTO NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETIES

 

Students from Union County, NJ, have been inducted into national honor societies at Berkeley College. 

“Congratulations to the Berkeley College students who have been inducted into national honor societies,” said Dario A. Cortes, PhD, President of Berkeley College. “Membership is a mark of excellence that not only recognizes academic achievement, but also positions these students competitively as leaders in their chosen professions.” 

The following students from Union County were inducted: 

- Marlene Alfred of Elizabeth, Phi Theta Kappa
- Jonathan Cocha of Plainfield, Phi Theta Kappa
- Kristell Mapelli of Elizabeth, Alpha Sigma Lambda and Phi Theta Kappa
- Thomas Parkin of Rahway, Phi Theta Kappa
- Michael Rosa of Rahway, Financial Management Association

The Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society was founded in 1945 to honor dedicated adult and non-traditional students who handle their life responsibilities while achieving and maintaining a high level of academic success. To qualify, students must have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher and must rank in the top 20 percent of their class. 

The Financial Management Association National Honor Society was founded in 1974 to acknowledge the accomplishments of outstanding students of finance. To qualify, students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. 

The Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society was established in 1918 to honor the academic achievement of students pursuing two-year degrees. To qualify, students must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
