BERKELEY COLLEGE HONORS ROSEMARIE BRENNER
AS NEW YORK ALUMNA OF THE YEAR

Berkeley College recently honored the achievements of Rosemarie Brenner by naming her the 2010 Berkeley College New York Alumna of the Year. Ms. Brenner graduated from Berkeley College in 2004 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and was honored during the Berkeley College Commencement Ceremony held at the IZOD Cener in East Rutherford, NJ, on Friday, April 30.

Ms. Brenner serves as Chief Operating Officer at Bedford Insurance Brokerage, Inc., a personal insurance brokerage firm providing affluent clients with personal risk management. During her six-year tenure, she has developed and implemented strategic business plans leading to substantial revenue and profit growth.

A resident of Yonkers, Ms. Brenner says her humble upbringing and Hispanic heritage shaped her personality. She credits her strength of character to her grandmother, Rosa M. Baez, who worked two jobs after coming to New York from Puerto Rico.

“My grandmother once said no matter who you are, your level of education or your standing in the community, you are always capable of achieving what you deeply desire,” said Ms. Brenner. “She instilled in me the fundamental principles of hard work from an early age, which created the foundation for the successes in my life.”

Ms. Brenner is a leader in her community and has a passion for charitable endeavors benefitting children. She has plans to establish foundations and endowments to fund special needs groups.

Her advice to college graduates is to find something they are passionate about, as this will give them a strong sense of purpose and lead to a happy life.

“Too many times new college graduates are focused on how much they are going to make instead of the love of the job,” she said. “Do what you love and the money will come.”

A leader in business education for 79 years, Berkeley College maintains an enrollment of more than 8,000 students, including 665 international students in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs.
