BERKELEY COLLEGE HONORS FACULTY OF THE YEAR AWARD RECIPIENTS IN NEW JERSEY AND NEW YORK

 

Twenty Berkeley College faculty members received Faculty of the Year awards for excellence in teaching as recognized by their students and colleagues at a dinner reception held at Club 101 on November 5, 2015, in Manhattan, NY.

“These annual awards recognize faculty members who serve as role models in demonstrating commitment to the success of Berkeley College students,” said Mary McDonough, PhD, Provost, Berkeley College. “We know they are successful because of their love of teaching and we are so proud of each of them.”   

Faculty of the Year award recipients in the Berkeley College Larry L. Luing School of Business were Michael McAteer of Ridgewood, NJ, Interim Associate Chair, Management, for Excellence in On-site Instruction; Laura Altomonte of Franklin Lakes, NJ, Faculty, Accounting and Finance, for Excellence in Online Instruction; and Dean Reonieri of Clifton, NJ, Faculty, Management, for the Adjunct Faculty Award.

Faculty of the Year award recipients in the School of Health Studies were Gabriel Holder of Jersey City, NJ, Chair, Medical Assistant, for Excellence in On-site Instruction; Theresa Reboli of Nutley, NJ, Faculty, Medical Billing and Coding, for Excellence in Online Instruction; and Maria Oquendo of Staten Island, NY, Faculty, Nursing and Patient Care Technician, for the Adjunct Faculty Award.

Faculty of the Year award recipients in the School of Professional Studies were Charlane Brown of Rockaway, NY, Faculty, Justice Studies, for Excellence in On-site Instruction; Shirley Leyro of Manhattan, NY, Faculty, Justice Studies, for Excellence in Online Instruction; and Ken Woo of Union City, NJ, Faculty, Interior Design, for the Adjunct Faculty Award.

Faculty of the Year award recipients in the School of Liberal Arts were Filippa Modesto of Brooklyn, NY, Faculty, English, for Excellence in On-site Instruction; Roseanne Torsiello of Moonachie, NJ, Chair, Online, for Excellence in Online Instruction; and Sara-Ann Bermont of Manhattan, NY, Faculty, English, for the Adjunct Faculty Award.

Ilene Landsman of Monsey, NY, Faculty, Developmental Education, received the Faculty of the Year Award in Developmental Educationfor Excellence in On-site Instruction.

A number of Berkeley College faculty also received awards in special areas. Ashford Maharaj of South Ozone Park, Queens, NY, Associate Chair, Accounting and Finance, Berkeley College Larry L. Luing School of Business; and Richard Schultz of Sparta, NJ, Co-Chair, English, Berkeley College School of Liberal Arts, received the Faculty Award for Curriculum. Vinita Ittoop of Union City, NJ, Faculty, Management, Berkeley College Larry L. Luing School of Business; Jim Lee of Parsippany, NJ, Faculty, Management, Berkeley College Larry L. Luing School of Business; and Maya Reddi of Greenwich, CT, Faculty, Management, Berkeley College Larry L. Luing School of Business, received the Global Alliance Award. Marisol Abuin of Franklin Square, NY, Chair, Legal Studies and Online, Berkeley College School of Professional Studies, received the Faculty Technology Award. Maria Deptula of Haskell, NJ, Berkeley College Library Director, Paramus, received the Library Award.
