BERKELEY COLLEGE HONORS EILEEN MCNERNEY
AS NEW JERSEY ALUMNA OF THE YEAR

Berkeley College is proud to recognize Eileen McNerney by naming her Berkeley College 2010 New Jersey Alumna of the Year. Ms. McNerney was honored at the 2010 Commencement Ceremony held on April 30 at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, NJ.

After graduating from the Berkeley Intensive Secretarial program, Ms. McNerney, a resident of Westfield, NJ, earned a BS degree in Economics and Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Juris Doctorate from the New York Law School.

Ms. McNerney has served as an Attorney and in Human Resource positions with Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Her work included managing a staff that provided Employee Relations support for 45,000 employees. In this role she was responsible for policy development and implementation, issue resolution, and Employee Relations training. Today she serves as a Case Manager.

Ms. McNerney says that the Berkeley Intensive Secretarial program helped pave the way for her successful experience in the corporate environment. She recalls that students were required to keep the “Berkeley Manual of Style” with them at all times. Students referred to the manual for rules of grammar, punctuation, and style.

“We learned so much in the grammar classes at Berkeley. That was a very important foundation for all communications within the business world,” Ms. McNerney said.

A leader in business education for 79 years, Berkeley College maintains an enrollment of more than 8,000 students, including 665 international students in its Baccalaureate and Associate degree programs. The College has four New Jersey campuses located in Woodland Park (formerly West Paterson), Paramus, Woodbridge, and Newark; two New York campuses in Midtown Manhattan and White Plains; an Extension Center in Lower Manhattan in the Wall Street area and Berkeley College Online. Concentrations are offered in more than 20 career fields, and all campuses are accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
