TWO BERKELEY COLLEGE GRAPHIC DESIGN STUDENTS RECEIVE AWARDS FROM
ART DIRECTORS COUNCIL OF NEW JERSEY
Berkeley College Graphic Design students Taylor Jones of Spring Valley, NY, and Kathy Lopez of Clifton, NJ, have received Awards of Excellence from the Art Directors Council of New Jersey (ADCNJ). In addition to receiving complimentary membership in this professional organization, award recipientshad the opportunity to showcase their portfolios at “Fest of the Best,” the inaugural Student Awards Show sponsored by ADCNJ. Students at the showreceived valuable advice from established designers, expanded their networks and presented their work to potential employers.
“The opportunity for our students to showcase their work is well deserved and exciting,” said Eileen MacAvery Kane, Chair, Graphic Design, Berkeley College School of Professional Studies. “It is a privilege to work with and help these students develop their talent for careers in design.”
“I love Graphic Design and am surprised, considering I have been in this program only six months,” Ms. Jones said of the awards show. She received an Associate’s degree in Interior Design from Berkeley College in 2013. “I have an advantage because my career opportunities can combine interior design with graphic design.”
Ms. Lopez agreed. “Having peers and professionals validate your work feels good. I received valuable feedback from working professionals who reviewed my portfolio. We exchanged information so my career network grew.”
