During the first week of the DECA NY Experience more than 400 entrepreneurial and business-oriented high school students from throughout the United States explored aspects of fashion merchandising and marketing by looking at trends through a presentation and hand-on project led by Myra Butensky, Berkeley College Instructor, Fashion Merchandising and Management.

“The students engaged in the Fashion Trends Workshop are dynamic, creative and insightful individuals,” Ms. Butensky said. “They will be an asset in our workplaces and serve well as our next generation of business leaders.”

The DECA NY Experience Conference began Wednesday, December 3 and extends through Friday, December 12 at the New York Pennsylvania Hotel at 401 Seventh Avenue. This 90-minute hands-on fashion workshop sponsored by Berkeley College will take place next week from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on December 11 and 12. Ms. Butensky discusses how to identify and predict a trend, and incorporates the students’ perceptions of New York City – communicated through mood boards – as a learning tool.
