Berkeley College Exhibits the Art of Jenna Lash -

Oils and Acrylics Focused on Money

Berkeley College is exhibiting the artwork of Jenna Lash at its New York City Midtown Campus Gallery, First Floor Lobby, 3 East 43rd Street. This exhibit will be on display from June 1 through 30.  It is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.  An artist’s reception will be held on Wednesday, June 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Fascinated by currency, Ms. Lash’s interest is in diverse cultures and how their identities are represented in their money.  She creatively conveys those symbolic representations of financial systems through the prism of her work.

“To say I’m into money as a subject is off-putting to most people in the art world,” said Lash. “But someone who knows nothing at all about art can immediately relate.  It represents culture and history in so many layers.  You have an icon that’s instantly  recognizable.”

Ms. Lash has won many awards for her work, including recently taking first prize in the Westchester, NY Beaux Arts Finale.  She has had ten solo shows in New York during the last 15 years and participated in more than 330 juried group exhibitions.  She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Connecticut and a Master of Arts from New York University.  The artist has studied at the American Academy in Rome, and her work is held in private collections in the United States and Europe.
