Berkeley College Exhibits ‘Pastorals’ –

the Art of Kaitlin Zorah McDonough

Berkeley College is exhibiting the artwork of artist Kaitlin Zorah McDonough at its New York City Midtown Campus Gallery, First Floor Lobby, 3 East 43rd Street. This exhibit will be on display from October 5 through 30.  It is open to the public Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.  An artist’s reception will be held on Wednesday, October 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Ms. McDonough, who currently lives in Venice, Italy, and works there for the Boston University Studio Arts Program, was born in New Jersey. She graduated summa cum laude with a BFA from Boston University, majoring in painting and with a minor in art history.  The artist is the recipient of the Constantin Alajalov Scholarship and the Harold C. Case Memorial Scholarship.  She is the daughter of Berkeley College Professor Michael McDonough, Professional Studies Department.

Ms. McDonough says her oil paintings depict “the external space of forest, beach, garden, and the mental space of twirling, lightness, heaviness, melting, merging, repose, and excitement.”  She uses bright palettes and loose handling to mirror the sense of live mutability.

Her solo exhibitions include:  “By Boat,” Club Ponte Storto, Venice, Italy; “Feeding and Flying,” Gallery Five, Boston, MA; and “Fed by Touch: Feet and Hugs,” Galleria Boston, MA.  She has participated in group exhibitions such as:  “Benefit Show,” Gallery Aferro, Newark, NJ; “Oaza Cacak," Serbia; “The Power of the Diminutive,” Rubin-Frankel Gallery, Boston, MA; and “Night of 1,000 Drawings,” Artists Space, New York, NY.

The artist's paintings have been featured in Studio Visit magazine, and reviewed in VeNews (an Italian cultural magazine) and Mes Armenies (a French/English publication).
